Strategic Line: Additive Manufacturing

ECOFAST2 project

Sustainable and productive additive manufacturing technologies to improve industrial competitiveness

FUNDING: ELKARTEK KK-2025/00009

CONSORTIUM: LORTEK (lead), CEIT, IDEKO, TECNALIA, TEKNIKER, IMH, EHU and AZTERLAN.

ECOFAST2 aims to research and generate knowledge on more sustainable, efficient and productive metal additive manufacturing technologies to transform and create an industry with a lower environmental impact and greater competitiveness, through the development of strategies to promote the circular economy and the optimisation of processes to increase productivity and reduce costs.

Direct deposition-based wire melting processing technologies: Laser Metal Deposition (LMD or DED-LB/M wire)
Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM or DED-Arc/M) processing technologies
Non-fusion metal powder processing technologies based on powder bed and sintering: Metal Binder Jetting (BJT/M).
Technologies involving powder melting: DED-LB/M powder, laser cladding (for generating coatings), Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB/M)
Other novel technologies: Friction Stir Additive Manufacturing (FSAM), Liquid Metal Jetting (LMJ) and Binder Jetting Sand (Powder Bed, BJT Sand).
