Social Commitment

Promoting the use of the Basque language in the workplace.

At the IMH we have assumed the commitment to promote the use of the Basque language at work, both internally and towards the machine tool sector.

We believe that the company that manages its languages is on the right track to be advanced. In the same way that quality, the environment, prevention and equality are taken into account, we understand that the linguistic management of the languages that coexist in a company is essential.

Being part of the Basque society, our objective will be to be able to work in Basque normally, in coexistence with the other languages.

Educating for sustainability

The IMH Campus Integrated Vocational Training Centre participates in the School Agenda 2030 programme.

The School Agenda 2030 was created with the aim of adapting the initial School Agenda 21 to the new scenarios that have arisen at global and local level.

This environmental education project will aim to protect people, the planet and prosperity based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the Basque Country, a goal has been added, 17+1, which encompasses cultural and linguistic diversity.

This is an educational program for the sustainability and quality of the school. It is based on community participation and intervenes and collaborates with the sustainable development of the municipality.

As an environmental education program, its purpose is to develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, motivation and commitment to take part in the resolution of environmental problems.

Its main characteristics are:

  • Covering two areas: the school and the municipal or county.
  • The participation of the educational community as the axis and foundation and the protagonism of the students.
  • To promote responsible and sustainable management.
  • To promote innovation in the curriculum.

Conferences to promote the Basque language in the machine tool sector

With the aim of promoting the use of the Basque language in the company and especially in the machine tool sector, the IMH organised a cycle of annual conferences for 10 consecutive years (30+10 mintegia) together with Ahize-AEK, in collaboration with Elgoibar Town Hall, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Basque Government. The IMH continued the cycle by initiating a new one called Hizkelan, organised by Laneki.
