The new dual university master "Digital Manufacturing" expands the training offer of the IMH in the industry 4.0 field

Basque reference companies will take on participating students for their dual training in the master.

The opening-act of the first university master's degree of the IMH took place on 21rst September in the University School of Dual Engineering of the IMH (Machine Tool Institute) of Elgoibar. This master's degree will be held in the IMH and another three institutions' facilities: At TECNALIA headquarters in Donostia-San Sebastián, at the IK4-IDEKO technology center in Elgoibar and at the CFAA, the Zamudio Advanced Manufacturing Center for Aeronautics.

The dual university master's degree Digital Manufacturing, is an official title attached to the UPV/EHU, of two years, and has been designed in close collaboration with leading companies of its field, which participate both in the definition of content and in the delivery of them, with prestigious faculty and professionals from different entities, referents in their fields of knowledge. Basque reference companies will take on participating students for their dual training in the master.

In the inaugural act took part the President of the IMH who also is the General Director of AFM Cluster, Xabier Ortueta, the Director of Postgraduate Studies of the UPV/EHU, Josu Sangroniz, the Director of Economic Promotion of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Garikoitz Agote, and the Director of Policy and University Coordination of the Basque Government, Miren Artaraz.

With more than 550 enrollments in initial training and more than 2,000 in training for employment, the IMH strengthens and reinforces the training of qualified people at all technical levels required by companies, to meet the challenges of the 4th industrial revolution.

The experts invited to the event Mikel Niño, Responsible for Industry 4.0 of TECNALIA, and Jon Kepa Gerrikagoitia, Manager of ICT and Automation of IK4-IDEKO, have lectured on the Digital Manufacturing Master and the context in the industry 4.0. On the other hand, the presentation of the Innovation Director of the ETXE-TAR Group, Patxi Samaniego, dealt with the strategy and the future of the 4.0 industry.

In addition to the aforementioned authorities, the Mayor of Elgoibar, Ane Beitia, the Director of the Debabarrena development agency DEBEGESA Juan Angel Balbás, and a representation of the entities and companies that participate in this master attended the inauguration act.

The new dual university master's degree Digital Manufacturing received the official authorization of delivery in June, and the dual official stamp this last month of August. Each student has been emplyed by a company that has previously defined their needs in this area.
